Member of Great Britain Children's Ski Race Team 2009/10 2010/11 2011/12

During the 2011 winter ski race season, Robert stepped up to an older age category (U15) where he was one of the youngest athletes. Robert represented Great Britain in the Czech Republic and Slovenia at International Children's ski races. He was selected for the third year to the Great Britain Children's ski racing team 2011/12 and has continued to prove his natural talent as an alpine ski racer with constant, numerous top results for his year of birth. Robert is the current 2011 U15 British Indoor Ski racing champion keeping hold of the title from his impressive win in the same age group in 2010. After his breathtaking results at the Snow Sport England BASS indoor slalom races held in Landgraaf, Holland where he won the U15 age group by more than 3 seconds he was described by a ski racing magazine 'RACER-READY' as "a class act in children's ski racing"....and "certainly one to watch out for in the future!"

Robert won the Hemel Hempstead Ski Race Club annual championships in September and was delighted to be awarded the 2011-12 Snow +Rock sponsorship deal. This was an excellent opportunity for him to change his ski racing equipment to ATOMIC. After a successful October ski training camp with new GB ski race coach Sean Langmuir and the legendary Alain Baxter, Robert couldn't wait for the start of the new winter race season. With older brother Daniel now a junior racer, training with the AKTIV Ski Race Academy, Robert joined the Telford Alpine Ski Racing Club this season under the watchful eye of coach Mark Vinter and Richard Breese.

Robert has continued his impressive form scooping Double Gold medals, kicking off the 2012 winter season in Champoluc, Italy at the British Alpine Racing Ski Clubs (BARSC) 2012 Championship, He kept the bar raised in his age group by winning overall in both slalom and giant slalom disciplines. Robert's awesome results were acknowledged with the presentation of the 2012 BARSC Award for the Best British overall CH2 Boy at the championships.

Next up for Robert will be a return to the Czech Republic with Team GB to represent Great Britain at the 'Ski Interkriterium' International children's championships at the end of January.

The 2010 winter ski race season has been an incredible record breaking success for young Potters Bar Great Britain ski racing sensation Robert Poth.

The 12 year old ski racer who attends Mount Grace School in Potters Bar is a member of ‘Team Slalom Plus’ and ‘Hemel Ski Race Club’ has underlined his dominance in his age category throughout the season.

The 2010 winter season opened on a high as Robert competed over the Christmas period at Austrian Regional championships which saw him racing alongside over 160 of the best Austrian and Slovenian children ski racers in the Karnten region. At the Koralpencup Giant Slalom ski race held at Koralpe near Wolfsberg, the long, technical Giant Slalom course was set on a steep, icey slope. Robert, representing Great Britain, skied to a well deserved third place.

Robert’s results on the International circuit continued to shine at the end of January when he clinched a silver medal in the Giant Slalom as he represented Great Britain at the “Trofeu Borrufa” International Children’s ski race held in Ordino Arcalis, Andorra. He also achieved two other top-10 finishes in Super Giant Slalom and the Combi race.

In the middle of February, Robert competed at the English Alpine Championships in Bormio, Italy with his club for snow ‘Team Slalom Plus’ where he collected a terrific trio of English titles. Robert took a phenomenal clean sweep in his age group across all three disciplines Slalom (which he won by over 3 seconds) Giant Slalom and the Super Giant Slalom.

At the end of February, Robert was very proud to be the youngest competitor selected by the English School’s Ski racing Association to form a five man team to represent England Schools at the 2010 World School’s ski racing championships which was held in Folgaria, Italy.

RobertPothGBAbetone2010Prior to the Easter races, Robert also represented GB at the Children’s international ski racing championships, Pinnochio sugli sci in Abetone, Italy which is known as the Children’s winter Olympics. He was the only Under 12 Male British ski racer representing GB at this event and achieved his personal target of a top 20 finish in each discipline which he did with an outstanding 18th overall position in Slalom and 17th overall in Giant Slalom.

Robert’s haul of medals and trophies escalated over the Easter week in April where he secured first place wins across all three disciplines, speed event Super Giant Slalom and technical events Giant Slalom and Slalom.

He competed with his club, “Team Slalom Plus” at the Scottish ski racing championships held in Courchevel, France and the British Children’s ski racing championships held in Meribel, France. During the grueling six day period of both championship events, Robert competed in nine championship races and won every single one.

Robert Poth managed a clean sweep in his age group to claim five additional National titles to the three National titles already claimed earlier in the season at the English Alpine championships held in Bormio, Italy in February.

Robert’s coach, Chantelle Goddard –Jones from ‘Team Slalom Plus’ said:

“To finish and actually win eight Championships on snow in succession is a considerable challenge for any age of ski racer, Robert’s results are breathtaking and a record that no other British racer has ever achieved to date.”

Robert has been reselected for the Great Britain Children’s ski race team for 2010 – 11.

My next short term goal is to continue making good consistent progress throughout my competitive skiing and hopefully participate in the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics. My long term dream goal is to compete for Great Britain in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

As the cost of training , competing and equipment is very high with very little financial support for British Ski Racers, I am looking for assistance in the form of Sponsorship to help finance my forthcoming winter season and develop my ski racing talent to the next level and beyond. If you think you could help me, I could return the support by advertising your business through my website, news articles or on my equipment.

Please contact me through this website or send me a message of support.

Thank you! Hope to hear from you……
